About Therapy
Get To Know Me
Get to know me

Welcome! My name is Katina Gould, and I would like to begin by acknowledging the courage that it takes to seek out therapy!

I am a true Washington native; born and raised here surrounded by family and friends. I love the boundless beauty that the PNW offers us. Being at the ocean, or in the mountains beneath the trees is my happy place. My faith is a big part of my life; however, it does not prevent me from relating to and understanding other world views and struggles that my clients bring into the counseling relationship. I welcome all different ideals, beliefs, and religions into this space, and seek to understand how those aspects play a role in your life, and possibly your healing. I specialize in helping people return to wholeness. Therapy can be challenging but it can also be fun! I value humor, grace, and integrity. I also enjoy staying curious with my clients in their creative process.

I believe that counseling is, at its core, a trusting relationship that is built on truth, courage, and communication. Our experiences shape who we are and what we believe. Each person has an individual experience with the world around them and this has its benefits and limitations that are challenging to overcome. These challenges can lead to blocks or barriers within ourselves that keep us from fully living. I believe human beings are resilient and capable of learning new ways of coping.

My goal as a counselor is to provide a nonjudgmental and supportive environment to help you learn more about yourself, and where you want to go. I will listen intently to your concerns, and with compassion and empathy, help you clarify your needs and your wants, and formulate a plan to help you reach the goals you have set for yourself. Counseling is a beautiful way to bring all of yourself and let someone sit with you in all the joy, anger, sadness, happiness, and stress in your life. It takes courage to live in the world and share it with someone else. Counseling is sharing the dark and the light, becoming more aware of yourself and your needs, identifying your choices, and taking action. It is my privilege to sit with you.

While I will use counseling techniques from various theoretical backgrounds to support my clients based on how our therapeutic relationship unfolds. I like to focus on using a Person-centered/strength-based approach when in a therapeutic relationship with my clients. I also draw on using Psychoanalysis to examine the way our conscious and unconscious mind interact. I also draw from Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, CBT, and Existential Therapy.

As a counselor, I am experienced and devoted to supporting individuals, children, teens, couples and families who present with a variety of concerns including relationship issues, health diagnosis and challenges, spiritual trauma/abuse, adjustment issues, crisis, loss and grief, fears, depression, relational issues, negative self-talk, family conflict, the need for coping skills, self-esteem and self-worth struggles, life transitions, anxiety, childhood trauma/recent trauma in adults and children, and those wanting to explore their cultural identity and issues of spirituality. All are welcomed!

Individual Therapy

If you are looking for quality individual therapy sessions with an educated and knowledgeable therapist that cares, then you have come to the right place. I guide my clients every step of the way and implement various methods to help them develop new attitudes towards all of life’s most complex matters. We will work to honor and process your life while giving attention to all the heartache and struggles you currently carry. I look at the whole person when counseling by considering physiological, environmental, psychological, cultural and spiritual aspects of their life to help us draw conclusions that are beneficial. I enjoy helping people transform their lives through building a healthy relationship with themselves and those around them. Although we share a common space, we process feelings and emotions differently. I will attend to your unique needs with empathy, compassion and understanding.

Couple, Child, Teen and Family Therapy

In my therapy sessions I focus on the strengths of each couple and family while also implementing attachment theory and an understanding of family systems theory to help us see what roles and dynamics are at play that could be affecting the overwhelming challenges within your relationships. We will work through current problems and behaviors, learn healthy communication and problem-solving skills, and develop a better understanding of each other. Together we can develop coping mechanisms as an individual and within the relationships that abide. I will help to provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles. I will help you create more fulfilling relationships and lead happier, more balanced lives.

Teens and Children

I have a longstanding passion of working with teens and children of all ages. I focus on Person-Centered Therapy and a strengths-based approach. I also implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Therapy (TF-CBT), Narrative Therapy and Play Therapy. Teens and children come in with many different issues such as loss and grief, anxiety, communication issues, depression, behavioral, self-esteem, self-harm, body image issues, peer relationships, relationships with parents and siblings, struggles in school, negative self-talk, lack of motivation, career guidance, various traumas, sexual abuse, issues of self-worth, extreme fears and worries, intrusive thoughts and anger management. I provide a safe and loving environment for children and teens to work through their struggles, heartaches, and goals. Our therapeutic relationship is key in this process, and I am a counselor who understands that it takes patience, a warm nature, a fun spirit, and time to build that relationship.

Wearing a mask is optional and up to your comfort level. Please, as a general rule do not come in if you're feeling ill.
